Grand Pickleball is a fun-first pickleball event designed for grandparent and grandchildren to learn or play together and create meaningful memories together.
This event is not about age or competitive ranking. It is about connection, teamwork, encouragement and having fun on the court.
Whether you are both brand new to pickleball or already enjoy playing together, there is an court option that fits your team.
Choose Your Grand Pickleball Experience
Learn Together
Best for teams where one or both players are new to pickleball
Our coaches will guide grandparents and grandchildren through the basics of the game in a welcoming and easy-to-follow format.
Participants will learn rules, serving and returning, and simple scoring. The focus will be on movement, teamwork, laughter and shared success.
No previous pickleball experience is required. Paddles and equipment can be provided.
Fixed Partner Games
Best for teams where both players already understand the basic rules
Grandparents and grandchildren will register and play together as a fixed partner team.
Teams will rotate through a series of friendly games against other grandparent-grandchild teams.
This is a recreational event, not a high-pressure tournament.
Players should already be able to:
- Serve the ball into play
- Keep score with some assistance
- Understand the two-bounce rule
- Participate in a basic game
- Rally safely with other players
Partners will remain together throughout the event.
Which Option Should We Choose?
Choose ‘Learn Together’ if:
One or both participants
- have never played pickleball
- have only tried pickleball once or twice
- not comfortable with scoring
- do not yet understand the two-bounce rule
- would like coaching and instruction before playing multiple games
Choose Fixed Partner Games if:
- Both participants have played pickleball before
- Both players can serve and return the ball
- Both players understand the basic rules
- Both players are comfortable participating in recreational games
- You want to play together as a team for the full event
Teams that are unsure should register for Learn to Play. Coaches may help participants transition into games if they are ready.
Who Can Participate?
Each team must include:
- One grandparent or grandparent figure
- One grandchild or younger family member (Minimum age 7)
Grandparent figures may include:
- Grandparents
- Step-grandparents
- Great-grandparents
- Honorary grandparents
- Older family members
- Close family friends who have a grandparent-style relationship with the child
What to Bring
Please bring:
- Clean indoor court shoes or appropriate athletic footwear
- Comfortable clothing
- Water bottle
- Your own paddle, if you have one
DEMO paddles will be available for participants who need them.
Please do not wear sandals, boots or open-toed shoes on the court.
Participants should only take part in activities that feel safe and appropriate for them.
Coaches may modify activities, court size or pace where possible.
